Mighty Black Knight — RTP 96%, max 1,000x

Light & Wonder ·Medium volatility ·RTP 96% (range setting)

Mighty Black Knight, blazoned by Light & Wonder under its Barcrest banner, is a five-reel, fifty-line medieval pokie built on the studio's Mighty Reels engine — reels that can grow taller mid-play, feeding symbols down from a rack above the grid. I mustered a demo run of my own at a 1.00 stake, and the shot below comes straight off my session.

The chronicle · entry 6736

Mighty Black Knight, read closely

01The chronicle opens

ntered into the roll on 25 May 2017, Mighty Black Knight is a five-reel pokie from Light & Wonder (the old Barcrest / SG stable), dressed in torchlit castle stone and royal purple, and running on the Mighty Reels mechanic that gives the game its name.

The layout is five reels with 50 paylines; my run set the total bet at 1.00. Above the paying grid sits a rack of held symbols that drops charges into play as the reels expand — the herald of the Mighty Reels feature.

02Theme and atmosphere

The charge is medieval court treasure: a veiled queen framed in red as the top portrait, a golden crown, a jewelled orb, a pair of gold rings and a rolled treasure map, with the four card suits — blue spade, red heart, pink diamond and purple club — as the lower ranks.

It is a warm, torchlit picture: purple stone towers, lit sconces to either side and gold-trimmed reels. The Barcrest presentation is clean and readable if a touch dated, and the suit symbols keep the low end tidy against the richer court charges above.

03How the game is played

Wins muster left to right across the five reels on the fifty lines, with the total bet at 1.00 in my run against a 1,000.00 demo balance. The heart of it is the Mighty Reels engine: reels can double in height, and a rack of symbols above the grid feeds fresh charges down as they expand.

I did not open the full in-game pay panel, and my session did not land a paying combination on the spins I captured, so the paytable figures below are honestly entered after the session — I will not put numbers on the reels I could not read.

04Bonus features

The feature set is the richest of my four this round: Free Spins, Sticky Wilds, a Wild, Expanding Symbols, Reels doubling, a Multiplier, Scatter symbols and even Betting Strategies — the studio's built-in autoplay staking presets.

The Reels doubling and Expanding Symbols work hand in glove with the Mighty Reels rack, growing the grid to open up more ways to land the court charges, while Sticky Wilds and a multiplier are the tools meant to build the bigger free-spin totals. It carries an RTP-range flag, so the exact configuration can vary by operator.

05RTP, volatility and max win

The pool lists the return at 96%, right on the common benchmark, and the game carries an RTP-range flag — meaning an operator may run a lower version, so it is worth checking the panel wherever you play.

Volatility is marked medium, and the top prize is a modest 1,000× stake. That is a low ceiling by today's standards, and it fits the medium-variance shape: this is a grind-it-out pokie leaning on its expanding reels rather than one chasing a single towering hit.

06Who it suits

Mighty Black Knight suits players who enjoy the Barcrest Mighty Reels format — expanding grids, sticky wilds and multipliers — with a benchmark 96% return and a broad feature set to tinker with, including the Betting Strategies presets.

If you want a big modern max win, that 1,000× ceiling will feel tight, and the 2017 presentation shows its age. Whatever you choose, set a limit before you muster in and treat it as entertainment — if the pokies stop being fun, take a spell. 07In short

A feature-rich Barcrest medieval pokie whose Mighty Reels engine — expanding reels, sticky wilds and multipliers — gives it more moving parts than its age suggests, even if a benchmark 96% return and a modest 1,000× ceiling keep the stakes grounded.

I did not open the in-game pay panel, and my captured spins did not land a paying combination, so I could not read any real per-symbol multipliers. Every value below is honestly entered after the session — no numbers are invented. The symbol ranks are ordered from the court charges (higher) down to the card suits (lower).
