The tools inside your account

Every licensed house should offer these, and the ones we list do. Use them at the beginning, when they cost you nothing.

Deposit limits — daily, weekly or monthly. Set one before your first deposit; increases usually take effect only after a cooling period, which is the point. Loss and wager limits — a harder cap than a deposit limit and a better one. Session reminders — a clock you cannot ignore, because slots are designed so that you can. Time-out — a short break, from a day to a few weeks. Self-exclusion — months or years, and not reversible on a whim. That is a feature.

Signs worth taking seriously

Playing longer or for more than you decided to, more than once. Chasing losses — the single most reliable warning there is. Gambling with money meant for something else. Hiding it, or lying about how much. Feeling you must play to feel normal.

Four things that are simply true

The house edge is real and permanent. Every published RTP below 100% is a cost of playing, over time, always. No slot is «due». Every spin is independent of every spin before it. No system beats it. Can I block myself from gambling sites? Yes. Most casinos offer self-exclusion in the account settings, and blocking software can bar gambling sites across a whole device. Ask your bank about blocking gambling transactions on your card as well — most New Zealand banks now offer it.
