Lock & Hit: Red Knight — the chronicle

Ash Gaming ·Medium volatility ·RTP 95.47% (range setting)

Lock & Hit: Red Knight musters a tidy medieval hold-and-win from Ash Gaming, and its whole banner is that jackpot ladder pinned across the top of the reels. Five reels, thirty lines, a middling volatility and a quoted RTP of 95.47% — this is a slot built around locking gold coins rather than chasing a monster multiplier, and the max win is a modest 500x. I ran a demo session in the coin of the realm and the shots below are my own run.

Lock & Hit: Red Knight, read closely

011. First muster

he escutcheon here is a five-by-three grid set against a castle-and-tourney backdrop, with four fixed jackpots blazoned overhead: MEGA, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI. That ladder is the honest headline — you are playing toward locked coins and a jackpot pot, not a towering line win.

For a 2023 release from Ash Gaming this is comfortable, familiar work: card royals in icy blue, a grail, a treasure chest, a warhorse and the Red Knight himself, and it never pretends to be anything cleverer than a solid hold-and-win.

022. What the pool roll records

The facts, straight from the roll: provider Ash Gaming, RTP 95.47%, volatility medium, and a maximum win of 500x the stake. Release date 25 May 2023. Those are the numbers the College of Arms will stand behind.

A 500x ceiling is the number to make peace with before you spin. This is a grind-and-collect pokie, not a big-multiplier hunt, and the RTP sitting a shade under 95.5% is on the cautious side.

033. The charges on the reels

Top of the roll is the Red Knight wild, who steps in for the paying charges and stacked nicely across the middle reels in my session. Below him muster the princess, the warhorse, the treasure chest and the grail; the icy 10-J-Q-K-A royals fill the rest of the quarters.

I couldn't read a clean symbol-pay table from my run, so those bounties are entered after the session — but the jackpot values overhead were crisp and are recorded in the paytable note.

044. Lock & Hit and the free games

The engine is the Lock & Hit hold-and-win: gold coins carry cash values, lock in place and trigger respins as you gather them, with the four fixed jackpots as the prize at the top of the ladder. Expanding and mystery symbols, stacks and scatters round out the feature set.

Three FREE GAMES shields handed me 6 free games in my run — the banner read 'YOU WIN 6 FREE GAMES', then '6 OUT OF 6' with wilds stacking on the centre reels. It's the same collect-the-coins loop, just with a little more room to breathe.

055. How the demo session felt

At a 5.00 total bet the base game was steady rather than thrilling — the kind of rhythm where you watch the coins for a lock more than the paylines. My biggest banner of the run was a TOTAL WIN of 4.00, which tells you the honest tempo of a medium-volatility grinder.

The presentation is clean and the jackpot ladder does its job of keeping your eye up top. Nothing about it is loud, and that will suit some heralds and bore others.

066. Who it suits

This one is for players who like hold-and-win collection and a fixed jackpot ladder over a soaring max-win chase. If a 500x ceiling and a sub-95.5% RTP sit fine with you, it's a pleasant, low-drama muster.

Chase-the-max thrill-seekers should look elsewhere. Whatever you spin, keep it 18+ and treat the coin as entertainment, not income — if the play stops being fun, muster out. Support: safergambling.org.nz and the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655.

077. The chronicler's blazon

A competent, honest hold-and-win with a well-drawn coat of arms and a clear jackpot ladder, held back only by a slim 500x ceiling and a middling RTP. Worth an entry in the chronicle for collectors of the format.

Add it to the roll as a solid, unspectacular knight — dependable, well-mannered, and not built to storm any castles.

Rules of the game

Grid & lines

Five reels, three rows, 30 fixed paylines. Wins are paid left to right on adjacent reels.

Lock & Hit hold-and-win

Landing enough coin symbols starts a hold-and-win respin round; coins carry cash values, lock in place and can award the MINI, MINOR, MAJOR or MEGA fixed jackpot.

Free games

Scatter shields award free games — my run paid 6 — where wilds stack on the reels while the collection loop continues.

Wild & extras

The Red Knight is wild and substitutes for paying charges. Expanding symbols, mystery symbols, stacks and an RTP range round out the feature set.

Symbol pays weren't legible in my demo run, so they're entered after the session. The fixed jackpot ladder read clearly at a 5.00 bet: MEGA 2,500.00 / MAJOR 1,000.00 / MINOR 250.00 / MINI 100.00. My best base banner was a 4.00 total win. Never a fabricated figure.

Summa

The verdict

In its favour

  • Clear four-tier fixed jackpot ladder (MEGA 2,500 down to MINI 100)
  • Clean, well-drawn medieval presentation
  • Straightforward Lock & Hit hold-and-win with a free-games layer

Against it

  • Slim 500x maximum win
  • RTP of 95.47% sits below the 96% mark
  • Low-drama base game won't suit thrill-seekers
7
of 10

A dependable Ash Gaming hold-and-win with a proper jackpot ladder, let down only by a modest 500x ceiling and a cautious RTP. A steady entry in the chronicle for collection-format fans.
