Red Knight, read closely

011. First muster

he blazon is warm and cinematic — a castle on the ridge, a raven perched on a planted sword, banners in the wind, and a sunset sky behind five reels. Four jackpots hang at the corners: GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI.

It's a good-looking, feature-heavy hold-and-win. The red-knight helm does the heavy lifting as a wild, and there's a fair bit going on beneath the classical medieval surface.

022. What the pool roll records

From the roll: provider ZeusPlay, RTP 95%, volatility medium, maximum win 2,000x the stake, released 22 December 2025. Those are the figures the College of Arms stands behind.

A flat 95% RTP is on the cautious side, but a 2,000x ceiling on medium variance gives it a reasonable balance of reach and steadiness.

033. The charges on the reels

The red-knight helm is the wild — in my run it expanded across reels two and three stamped WILD, tiling four helms deep. The premiums are the flaming sword, the crimson shield and the green-glowing mace; the card royals A-K-Q-J-10 fill the lower quarters.

The dragon-crest shield marked SCATTER is your feature key. A left-line hit paid me 0.79 on the wild spread, and I clocked a smaller 0.03 line tick — no full symbol table surfaced, so those pays are entered after the session.

044. The hold-and-win and jackpots

The engine is a coin hold-and-win: moon-faced coin orbs land carrying values — I read 0.10 on the reels — and lock through respins, with feature coins climbing to the four jackpots. Sticky symbols, mystery symbols, a random multiplier and wilds-with-multipliers all feed the round.

At my 0.10 bet the ladder read GRAND 200.00, MAJOR 50.00, MINOR 10.00 and MINI 2.00. Free spins with a free-spins multiplier and a bonus game round out one of the fuller feature sheets on the roll.

055. How the demo session felt

Lively without being frantic. The expanding red-knight wild is the base game's best beat — it turned a middling spin into a 0.79 line — and the coin orbs kept the hold-and-win feeling within reach. Medium variance felt about right.

There's a lot of mechanics stacked here; it can feel a touch busy, but the presentation keeps it legible. The 95% RTP is the one number to keep an eye on.

066. Who it suits

For players who like a feature-rich hold-and-win with a proper jackpot ladder and expanding wilds, and who can accept a slightly below-par RTP for the extra bells and whistles.

RTP purists may balk at the flat 95%. Whatever you spin, keep it 18+, set a limit and stop when it stops being fun. NZ support: safergambling.org.nz and the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655.

077. The chronicler's blazon

A handsome, feature-packed ZeusPlay hold-and-win with an expanding wild and a clear four-tier ladder, marked down mainly for a cautious 95% RTP. A solid, busy knight for the roll.

Enter it as a well-armed contender — plenty of weapons, if not the most generous purse.

How the chronicler rides it

The chronicler has ridden this knight. The plates below are frames from that session — our own screen, nothing borrowed.

Base gameRed Knight — Base game
The sunset muster: flaming sword, green mace and the dragon-crest SCATTER on the reels, GRAND 200 / MAJOR 50 / MINOR 10 / MINI 2 hung at the corners.
WinRed Knight — Win
The red-knight helm floods reels two and three stamped WILD — a tidy 0.79 line at a 0.10 stake, with moon-coin orbs waiting on reel five.
Hold and winRed Knight — Hold and win
The wilds stack and the 0.10 coin orbs line up on the right — the hold-and-win collect building toward the jackpot ladder.

Captured in our own session. Where a round has not been reached yet, the codex shows an honest blank rather than a borrowed picture.

Summa

The verdict

In its favour

  • Feature-rich hold-and-win with a clear four-tier jackpot ladder
  • Expanding red-knight wild is a genuine highlight
  • Handsome, cinematic sunset presentation

Against it

  • Cautious 95% RTP
  • Lots of overlapping mechanics can feel busy
  • 2,000x ceiling is decent rather than dazzling
7
of 10

A good-looking, mechanics-heavy ZeusPlay hold-and-win with a strong expanding wild and a proper jackpot ladder. Held back mainly by a flat 95% RTP, but a solid entry on the roll.
