Knight Hot Spotz — the chronicle

Pragmatic Play ·High volatility ·RTP 96.5% (range setting)

Knight Hot Spotz is Pragmatic Play's medieval money-collect, and it's a proper high-volatility beast dressed up with a beer-swilling knight, cheeky armoured pigs and a dragon-egg bonus. Five reels, a quoted RTP of 95.5%, a 2,000x maximum win and a firmly HIGH volatility rating — this is a chase pokie, not a gentle grind. The shots below are from my own demo run at a 2.00 bet.

Knight Hot Spotz, read closely

011. First muster

he escutcheon is a moody five-reel forge, chains and lava in the background, a bearded knight quaffing from a tankard off to the side. It's Pragmatic at its most tongue-in-cheek: the premium charge is a plump pig in a knight's helmet, and the whole thing has a knowing grin about it.

Under the humour sits a serious engine — a money-collect built for spikes, where sausage-shaped coin symbols carry cash values and a dragon does the collecting.

022. What the pool roll records

Straight from the roll: Pragmatic Play, RTP 95.5%, volatility HIGH, maximum win 2,000x the stake, released 26 April 2023. Those are the numbers the College of Arms stands behind.

A 2,000x ceiling with high variance tells you the shape of the thing — long droughts punctuated by the odd loud spike. Budget for patience.

033. The charges on the reels

The armoured pig is your premium — in my run three of them on line 6 paid 3.20 for a 6.40 total at a 2.00 bet. Below the pig sit the sword-and-shield, then the card royals Q-K-J-A in their jewelled script.

The bearded knight is the scatter (it landed stamped SCATTER down reel two in the free-spins trigger), and the green dragon egg with the little skull strap is the bonus symbol that opens the money-collect.

044. The money-collect and free spins

The heart of it is the coin round: sausage 'hot spot' symbols land with printed cash values — in my session I saw 10.00, 8.00, a glowing 24.00, 4.00 and 2.00 — and the red dragon acts as the collector that sweeps them up. Symbol-swap and additive-symbol mechanics feed the round.

Three scatters mustered me into free spins — the trigger paid 6 (I also saw a 7-spin variant), the reels lit with fire, and the round tallied a 54.00 total win by the end. Additional free spins can be retriggered inside.

055. How the demo session felt

This plays exactly like its rating: base spins can go quiet, then the coin symbols and dragon show up and the numbers jump. The 6.40 line hit was pleasant; the 54.00 free-spins tally was where the session actually earned its keep.

It's brash and fast and never takes itself seriously, which I rather liked. The high variance is real, though — you'll want a bankroll that can ride the flat stretches.

066. Who it suits

Made for players who like Pragmatic's money-collect format and can stomach high volatility for a 2,000x shot. If you enjoy a bonus buy-style tension and a bit of daft humour, it delivers.

If quiet stretches frustrate you, give it a miss. Whatever you spin, keep it 18+, set a limit and stop when it stops being fun. NZ support: safergambling.org.nz and the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655.

077. The chronicler's blazon

A well-built, genuinely funny high-variance money-collect with legible coin values and a satisfying free-spins tally — the strongest knight on my roll this muster.

Blazon it as a proper contender: loud, spiky and honest about what it is.

Rules of the game

Grid & bet

Five reels of medieval mayhem. My demo ran at a 2.00 total bet with wins paid on lines left to right.

Money-collect (hot spots)

Sausage 'hot spot' coin symbols land carrying cash values — I saw 10.00, 8.00, 24.00, 4.00 and 2.00 — and the dragon collector sweeps their values into your win.

Free spins

Three knight scatters award free spins (my trigger paid 6, with a 7-spin variant seen); the round can retrigger additional free spins. My free-spins round tallied 54.00.

Wilds & extras

A wild substitutes for paying charges; symbol-swap and additive-symbol mechanics feed the coin round, and an RTP range applies.

Summa

The verdict

In its favour

  • Genuinely spiky high-variance money-collect with a 2,000x ceiling
  • Clear, legible coin values (up to 24.00 seen) and a 54.00 free-spins tally
  • Charming, tongue-in-cheek Pragmatic presentation

Against it

  • RTP of 95.5% is below the 96% mark
  • High volatility means long quiet stretches
  • Humour won't be to every herald's taste
8
of 10

A loud, well-built Pragmatic money-collect that backs its cheek with a real 2,000x engine and legible in-round values. The pick of my muster for players who can ride high variance.
