Knights of the Golden Egg, blazoned by Gold Coin Studios, is a fairytale-bright pokie where a rooster in armour guards a clutch of golden eggs, a jackpot ladder hangs over the reels and a Free Spins shield keeps offering itself. I ran my own demo, and the shots below are from that session.

Knights of the Golden Egg, read closely

01The chronicle opens

ntered into the roll on 25 November 2024, Knights of the Golden Egg is a five-reel pokie from Gold Coin Studios with the unusual reel heights of 3-4-5-4-3 — a diamond-shaped grid that pays across 720 ways rather than fixed lines.

The pay rules I read in the panel confirm the way count and note a bet multiplier of five, so every spin is built from a base bet times that multiplier. It is a clean, storybook build against a bright castle skyline.

02Theme and atmosphere

The charge is a comic fairytale muster: a white rooster dressed as a knight, a purple-robed parrot who plays the wizard, golden crowned eggs, and a running goose-and-egg emblem off to the left. Royals A, K, Q, J and 10 in warm red fill the lower ranks.

It is cheerful and cartoonish — sunny sky, white castle towers, a green sward at the foot of the reels — the sort of presentation that keeps things light while the jackpot ladder does the tempting.

03How the game is played

Wins muster left to right across adjacent reels on the 720-way pattern, starting from the leftmost reel. The blue WILD shield stands in for the paying charges, and in my run I watched a whole reel fill with stacked wilds on the middle column.

Above the reels sits a four-tier jackpot ladder — MINI, MINOR, MAJOR and MEGA — and a choice emblem to the left offering either extra Free Spins or a Wild ×2 when the moment comes.

04Bonus features

The centrepiece is the free spins, called by the FREE SPINS shield scatters; in my run I had two of them staring back at me on the reels, one shy of the trigger. A pick then offers three free spins or a doubled wild — you choose how you want the round to lean.

There is also an Express Collect cash feature: when it fired I saw golden coins stamped 20×, 100× and 500× gathering to the rooster. Backed by the jackpot ladder, a cash collector and pot collection, the game keeps several cash routes open at once toward the 3,000× top.

05RTP, volatility and max win

The pool lists the return at 96.24%, right on the common benchmark — a fair shake by modern standards. The jackpot ladder I read showed MEGA 4,000.00, MAJOR 800.00, MINOR 80.00 and MINI 22.40 as the on-reel prize values during my run.

Volatility is marked high, and the top prize is 3,000× stake. The shape fits: a fun, feature-forward base game with the real weight sitting in the free spins and the collect rounds.

06Who it suits

This suits players who like a bright, feature-rich ways pokie with a jackpot ladder and a choice at the bonus — the pick between free spins and a doubled wild gives you a small say in the ride, which is a nice touch.

If you want a stark, grown-up medieval theme, the cartoon roosters will not be your muster. Whatever you choose, set a limit before you start and treat it as entertainment — if the pokies stop being fun, take a spell. 07The blazon in brief

A cheerful, well-stocked ways pokie: the diamond grid, the jackpot ladder and the free-spins-or-wild pick give it plenty to do, and the 96.24% return is honest. I enter it in the chronicle at 7 out of 10.

Rules of the game

Grid

Five reels with heights of 3-4-5-4-3, paying across 720 ways. Way wins run left to right from the first reel on adjacent positions.

Wild

The blue WILD shield substitutes for the paying charges; it can arrive stacked to fill a whole reel.

Free spins

The FREE SPINS shield scatters trigger the round, which offers a pick between extra free spins or a Wild x2 for the duration.

Jackpot ladder

A four-tier ladder above the reels — MINI, MINOR, MAJOR and MEGA — showed on-reel values of 22.40, 80.00, 800.00 and 4,000.00 during my run.

Express Collect

A cash collect feature gathers coin symbols to the rooster; in my run I saw coins stamped 20x, 100x and 500x.

The in-game pay panel showed only the About / Way Rules / Bet Rules text (5 reels 3-4-5-4-3, 720 ways, bet multiplier of 5) — it did not list per-symbol line pays, so those rows are entered after the session. The real numbers I could read are the jackpot ladder values and the Express Collect coin stamps.

How the chronicler rides it

The chronicler has ridden this knight. The plates below are frames from that session — our own screen, nothing borrowed.

base gameKnights of the Golden Egg — base game
The diamond 3-4-5-4-3 grid in the base game: two FREE SPINS shields on the middle reels, a column of crowned golden eggs on reel four and a stacked WILD on reel five, with the MINI / MINOR / MAJOR / MEGA ladder overhead.

Captured in our own session. Where a round has not been reached yet, the codex shows an honest blank rather than a borrowed picture.

Summa

The verdict

In its favour

  • Fair 96.24% return, right on the benchmark
  • 720-way diamond grid with stacked wilds
  • Four-tier jackpot ladder (up to a 4,000.00 MEGA value read on reels)
  • Bonus pick between extra free spins and a Wild x2
  • Express Collect cash feature with 20x / 100x / 500x coins

Against it

  • High volatility can mean cold stretches between features
  • Cartoon rooster theme won't suit players wanting a serious medieval look
  • Pay panel didn't list per-symbol values during my run
  • 3,000x top win is modest next to some knight-themed rivals
